Unless you’re a Christmas Queen, you’re wondering how you’ll “make Christmas happen.” Why isn’t there an app for that? Many women feel pressure to shop ’til ya drop, bake ’til ya shake and do a hundred other tasks related to Christmas. Forget the sugar plum fairy. “How will I make Christmas happen?” dances through your head repeatedly, causing a blizzard of a migraine. Ugh. Where’s the aspirin, anyway?
A few of you embrace the glory and splendor of the season, which is lovely. You competed your shopping in August, and your home is so Christmasy, if your friends sit down they feel it’s going to snow.
Some of you posted how you finished your Christmas to-do list in February and we are going to find you and TP your house with glittery toilet paper!
The season has morphed into some sort of stress-filled, joy robber for many.
Please be encouraged. Christmas happened already, over 2000 years ago. Thankfully, we don’t have to do anything to make it happen. The glory, the wonder and the miracle of the season shines on throughout the world as it has for 2,000 years.
Of course you desire to provide a lovely, fun-filled, memorable experience for your children, friends and family. This reflects your beautiful heart. What a gift, and you are an absolute gem.
Martha – not Martha Stewart, but another Martha – invited Jesus over for a meal many years ago.
She wore herself into a frenzy, trying so desperately to make the meal and the environment perfect. Resentment spilled over into her heart because her sister, Mary, simply sat at Jesus’ feet. She soaked in the presence of Jesus, letting his love and wisdom seep into her soul.
I picture Martha slamming cupboards, thinking, “Don’t they appreciate anything I do around here?!” Finally she approached Jesus. She complained to him that Mary wasn’t helping her.
Jesus respinded, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed – or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” That. Speaks. Volumes.
Although the context wasn’t Christmas of 2015 in America, if the Christmas stocking fits…..
The truth is that wise men and women still seek Him. Because deep down, you’ve always known stuff can’t offer you the peace and contentment your soul longs for.
Only a relationship with the true essence of Christmas, Jesus, can fill that void. Chocolate is great and shoes feel like happiness in a box. But truly, stuff is only stuff. In the end, only a relationship with Jesus fills the heart to the brim.
Enjoy the glitter and glitz of the season. But don’t forget to embrace the true gift – the glory of the season. Christmas has already happened, and you can breathe and bask in the presence of Jesus, the reason for life.~

Standing ovation! Thanks for sending me this, Cherrie. This is the last Saturday before Christmas so we are staying home, away from the shopping stampede and chillin’ under the fan.
With my health, I begin prep early and plod… slowly… which thanks to the internet, is now doable. At this point, with 7 sleeps to go, gifts are done, food is in, 3 cards are left to be written and I am watching movies as I eat rum balls and summer fruit. Here in Australia it is sooooooo hot (we’re in summer, good and proper) which makes stressed, frayed people much worse!
There is no reason to do it any other way, other than to follow our own fleshly walk and that never ends well.
All glory to the Lord for His marvellous provision in Christ!
I was reading last night about how the angel of the Lord, mentioned in the New Testament was Jesus, who has been heavily invested in mankind throughout all of the history of Israel. He was the angel who led them out of Egypt and through the wilderness for 40 years. That love blows my mind! (https://www.blueletterbible.org/faq/don_stewart/don_stewart_26.cfm)
